Dr William T.F. GoossenWilliam is an experienced consultant and researcher in the field of health and nursing informatics. He has been involved in various international projects related to nursing informatics since the late '90s. The core of his work is related to information analysis, system analysis and design, requirements gathering, consensus building, terminology evaluation and terminology development. He has published over 200 articles in international and national scientific journals and has acted as a speaker at dozens of conferences.
He is the principal consultant of Results 4 Care, a consultancy company which has its main focus on projects and partners in the Netherlands (e.g. with Furore, OIZ, Epping consultancy, INAD medical software, Topicus, CSC and Portavita). Current projects include the Dutch Juvenile Care Record system; maintanance of the clinical data set used for perinatal screening; and the provision of consultancy related to the introduction of an electronic nursing system in a large hospital.
Results 4 Care contributes to work in international and national health standards organizations (in particular HL7, ISO TC 215, CEN TC 251, NEN TC 303006) and in nursing / health informatics professional organizations (VMBI, IMIA-NI, ICNP). Current developments include the upgrading of the HL7 Care Provision Model to normative and the Standards on Detailed Clinical Models (HL7, CEN, ISO).
William has been a qualified teacher since 1985. He's been involved in the provision of training both in the form of training courses (e.g. HL7 version 3 for care providers), as well as in Masters programs and PhD studies. He is an assistant professor in health informatics for the School of Nursing at the University of Minnesota (USA) and is a lector for ICT innovations in healthcare at Hogeschool Windesheim (Netherlands).
